Four-post and multi-post structures that stand on their own in the yard to create a destination, a garden room or a shady retreat.
A freestanding pergola gives you a place to go. It can sit by the pool, at the end of the garden or in a corner of the lawn, and it makes a destination out of an ordinary patch of yard. Because it stands alone, every post and footing has to carry its share.
We choose the location with you, check the ground and the sun, size the structure for the space and set the posts on footings built for the load. Beams, rafters and bracing tie the frame together so it stays square and steady in wind, and the finish is chosen for the setting.
A good location has a view, a reasonable path from the house and the right sun. We often stake out the footprint so you can see it before we build.
Without a house to lean on, the pergola relies on its posts and bracing. Knee braces and well-set footings keep it rigid in storms.
A pergola that is too small feels lost and one that is too big overwhelms the yard. We size it to the space and the furniture.
Curtains, lights, fans, climbing plants and built-in seating turn a frame into a retreat. We plan them with the structure.

You tell us about the yard, the timeline and any concerns, and we set a time to visit that fits your day.
We walk the yard, study the sun and the house, take measurements and draw a plan with sizes and materials.
We write the scope, coordinate permits and HOA approvals, locate utilities and prepare the site.
Footings are poured, posts set plumb and beams and rafters go up in a planned order.
We stain or paint, add lights and features as planned and clean the site thoroughly.
We walk the finished pergola with you, share care tips and leave you to enjoy the shade.
