Careful teardown of worn out structures and a fresh start with a better-built pergola in the same spot or a new one.
Not every old pergola is worth saving. Some are too rotted, too small, too weak or just not what you want anymore. Taking one down and starting fresh can give you a better structure for the money than endless repairs.
We take down old pergolas, decks and shade structures carefully, protect surrounding patios, plants and the house, haul away debris and repair the ground. If you want a replacement, we design a better one, reuse footings that are sound and build to current standards in the same footprint or a new layout. Replacing a structure is also a chance to improve the space. We talk about what you liked and disliked about the old pergola, such as shade, height, size and upkeep, and we fold those lessons into the new plan. Where the footprint or position was wrong, we move it. Where the materials failed, we choose better ones, so that the new pergola solves problems the old one could not.
We cut and lower parts in order, protect surfaces and shut off any utilities connected to the structure.
We take away lumber, hardware and debris, and rake and level the site so you are left with a clean yard.
Sound footings, slabs and sometimes posts can be reused. We test them before we plan to rely on them.
We fix what failed the first time, such as weak footings, poor drainage or wrong materials, so the new structure lasts.
