Warm string lights, downlights and path lighting wired into the structure so the pergola glows after dark.
A pergola is lovely at noon and magical at night, if the lighting is right. Warm light from above, soft glow along the edges and a little path lighting make the space inviting and safe. Poor lighting does the opposite: glare, dark corners and visible wires.
We plan lighting during the pergola design so wires run inside beams and posts, fixtures sit where they belong and switches and dimmers are easy to reach. We use warm, weatherproof fixtures, install them on solid mounting and coordinate with qualified electricians for the connection to your panel. Good lighting is mostly restraint. We aim fixtures away from eyes, use warm bulbs with soft dimming and keep the brightest light where people cook or play cards, leaving gentle pools of glow elsewhere. Hidden wiring channels in beams and posts keep the structure clean, and we label circuits and leave a simple map so that you or your electrician can change a bulb or add a fixture later.
Good outdoor lighting has layers: soft ambient light overhead, task light where you cook or read and accent light on posts and plants. We combine them so the space feels welcoming.
Commercial-grade string lights, recessed downlights and rope lights all work. We mount them to rafters and beams with proper supports so they stay up through wind.
Hidden wiring, dimmers, timers and smart controls make lighting easy. We plan conduit and boxes in the framing.
Warm white light flatters people and wood. We avoid harsh blue light and glare.
