Rotted posts, loose beams and worn finishes fixed properly so an older pergola gets years of new life.
Pergolas age. Posts rot at the base, beams sag, rafters split and fasteners rust. The good news is that most aging structures can be repaired for much less than a replacement, if the problems are found and fixed correctly.
We inspect your pergola from footing to rafter tip, mark every problem and explain what needs to be repaired, what can wait and what should be replaced. We replace rotted posts and bases, straighten and re-tie beams, swap split rafters, tighten or replace hardware and refinish the whole structure so it looks fresh again.
We probe posts at ground level, check connections, look for sagging and test for movement. Findings go on a list with photos so you can see what we see.
Rot at post bases is the most common problem. We can sister, splice or replace posts and add proper bases to keep wood off wet concrete.
We replace damaged members, add bracing and swap rusty fasteners for better ones. A pergola that moves too much is re-squared and re-anchored.
After repairs, we clean, sand and stain or seal the structure so old and new wood match and are protected.
