Vinyl is clean, bright and easy to care for. Here is what to know about its strength, color and limits.
Vinyl pergolas are made from extruded PVC. They never need painting, do not rot and resist insects and moisture. They are usually white or neutral and give a crisp, clean look that suits many traditional homes.
Vinyl is not as strong as wood or aluminum, so larger spans need internal reinforcement. Dark colors can warp in strong sun, so light colors are standard. Vinyl works well for small to medium pergolas and arbors where low upkeep is the goal.
